Boston lost two of three in Baltimore to fall back to .500 and the Red Sox are back home for a four-game set with the Tigers prior to a two-game series with Atlanta. Boston has not been very good at home as it is 11-15 but expect this to get much better as the season moves along. Detroit is coming off a doubleheader split against Pittsburgh with the second game loss snapping a four-game winning streak. The Tigers are one game under .500 and well back in the American League Central as they trail Cleveland by 9.5 games. Jack Flaherty has been inconsistent but has put together five straight quality outings which is keeping this number down. Overall, he has a 3.84 ERA and a 2.91 xERA so he has exceeded expectations based on the metrics with a lot that due to his incredible 81:9 K:BB ratio but based on career numbers, this will come back to the mean. Nick Pivetta has been one of the best pitchers in the game going back to last summer as he is third in strikeout rate and third in strikeout-walk percentage among 135 pitchers that have thrown at least 80 innings since July of last season. Overall, his top line numbers will keep bettors away with a 4.20 ERA but he has a 1.07 WHIP. Play (964) Boston Red Sox
